Between the lines: Jess Crutchley
- What’s the longest or most unusual word you’ve used (in your texts) this week?
Everyone’s heard of entrepreneurship, but I was recently working on a text about intrapreneurship – the act of behaving like an entrepreneur while working within a large organization. I find it fascinating how corporate language evolves in line with business needs and trends.
- Of all the languages you don’t speak, which one would you most like to learn and why?
I’m originally from Wales but other than a few odd words and phrases I’ve never properly learnt the language – I’d love to change that. I’d like to learn Thai, too, for the pure beauty of the script!
- What are you reading right now?
An Icelandic noir crime series called Reykjavik Murder Mysteries by Arnaldur Indridason. Translated fiction provides an interesting insight into different cultures; I try to switch off but sometimes I can’t help analysing the translation!
- Beer or wine?
Beer in the beer garden, wine with food ????
- Beach holiday or city break?
That’s a tough one. I love spending the odd day or two on the beach to relax, but any longer than that I start to get itchy feet and want to explore. My dream holiday would be one that combines both in some way.
- Chocolate or vanilla?
I don’t have much of a sweet tooth; can I choose something savoury instead? At any rate, I’m not huge fan of chocolate, so if I had to choose it’d have to be vanilla.
