German

  • What’s the longest or most unusual word you’ve used (in your texts) this week?

I recently came across the German word “Mopf”, which I find really funny. Sadly, its meaning is fairly uninteresting: it’s short for the German word “Modellpflege” and refers to making technical or optical modifications to a car model.

  • Of all the languages you don’t speak, which one would you most like to learn and why?

Instead of learning a whole new language, first I’d like to brush up my French. Since I rarely get the chance to practise, I’ve forgotten a lot of it. It’s a shame, since I think it’s a beautiful language, but because I have a limited vocabulary I can have only the most basic conversations.

  • What are you reading right now?

I’m reading Rohinton Mistry’s “A Fine Balance” for the second time. It’s one of the few books that stays with me for a long time even after I’ve finished reading it, and gives me a lot to think about. Definitely recommended.

  • Beer or wine?

It might sound terribly conventional, but I tend to drink wine with a meal and beer if there’s no food. And if there’re cocktails going, then a piña colada. ????

  • Beach holiday or city break?

Preferably both in one, but if I absolutely had to decide, then a city break, since it offers more variety.

  • Chocolate or vanilla?

No contest: chocolate!
